Sponsoring

Friends and sponsors of the Ingenhammshof

The Ingenhammshof is a suitable place for achieving these goals. Since it was set up, the educational farm has accumulated a wealth of experience in dealing with children and young people from the city. Visitors to the farm can see exactly what the developments of recent years have been in the animal sheds and on the grounds of the Ingenhammshof.

The aim of all the farm's activities - namely, the sparing and responsible use of our natural resources - has already been clearly demonstrated.

The Association has set itself the following goals:

children and young people from the city are to be given the chance of acquiring experience in the various areas of
environmentally conscious agriculture - Agenda 21,
species-appropriate methods of animal farming,
soil and water conservation,
preserving the variety of species in crop cultivation,
respecting Nature in the urban environment and in populated areas,
efficient energy usage with a view to consumption patterns and lifestyles for a sustainable future.

Another aim of the Sponsoring Association is to procure the resources that are needed for the areas of experience just mentioned. In view of the increasing restrictions on the freedom of action both of local communities and of the Federal State, it was hoped that a sponsoring system for the Ingenhammshof could be developed.

Possible sponsors must know exactly what they are supporting and promoting, and must also familiarise themselves with the project areas in question.

To take an example ...

... although the greater part of the Ingenhammshof was only completed in 1994, the idea of global energy is inadequately represented in the form of alternative energy sources. In spite of a roof area measuring in excess of 1000 square metres, there are no solar modules to convert solar energy into electricity or hot water. This example shows a way in which the target of "efficient use of energy resources", formulated in the constitution of the Association as one of its proposed aims, can be realised in practice. We would aim to initiate contact with companies and individuals who are interested in the project, with a view to investigating possible paths for its practical implementation. This is just one example of the projects that could be realised at the Ingenhammshof, with an eye to achieving the aims envisaged. Why not become a member of the Association of Friends and Sponsors of the Ingenhammshof Educational Farm in the Duisburg-Nord Landscape Park? The annual subscription is just 6 euros. The founding members would be glad to meet people with ideas that can help with the implementation of the aims of the Association, and so make a qualitative contribution to the further development of the educational farm.
